Madmar Co. made children's and adult wood puzzles in Utica, NY from the 1920s to the 1960s using such brand names as Blue Ribbon, Interlox and Mayfair for their adult lines. They stackcut their puzzles, four at a time, but because they also filed their blades making them thinner, Madmar puzzles usually are fairly tight. Usually, Madmar puzzles have a the papered back but are without figure pieces and color line cutting. Earlier Madmar puzzles were cut with longer and thinner arms while later Madmars tended to be cut with "blockier" pieces.
