Bob's comments: child feeding ducks from food carried in her folded up dress; tight fit; overly thin necks break easily

In the 1930s, exquisite pastels by Massachusetts-based Mabel Rollins Harris were among the most admired in the calendar-art business. Many of her great Art Deco pin-ups effectively expressed the magic and mystery inherent in the romantic themes that were so popular during the era. Romantic in manner, her subjects were posed with moonlight streams or ponds as backdrops, and rendered with her characteristic soft, yet brilliant glow. She also provided non-pinup, sentimental illustrations for Joseph C. Hoover and Sons and Brown & Bigelow --delightful portrayals of children, often in gardens featuring birds and pets. The Saturday Evening Post commissioned Harris to provide cover illustrations, as did other magazines of the day.
