Cut by Ida G. St. Clair, Newport, RI in 1930's.  Interlocking with color line cutting.  Very interesting and detailed scene by Clyde O. De Land of early settlers building a log house.  Note guns at the ready and women helping with the work.  Clyde O. De Land (1872 - 1947) was an American painter and illustrator. Though he is relatively unknown today, De Land was one of the first graduates of Howard Pyle's class at the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry alongside names like N. C.
