This Arteno series puzzle made by Arteno Co., 69 Long Wharf, Boston 1933 is cut more finely than the others show on this page, and with interval knobs along many of the color lines to make it truly interlocking, i.e., it can be picked up from a corner. The scene by artist John Alan Maxwell pictures several stages in the life of our hero. Some of the replacement pieces by Charles Russell show but I have been reluctant to replace them because Russell was a very fine maker of new puzzles from 1930's-1970's and I consider the replacements as part of the puzzle’s provenance. Label on box indicates puzzle came from the Westminster Lending Library in Providence, RI where my grandmother picked it up while living in nearby Rehoboth, MA. More on the works of the artist may be viewed at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Alan_Maxwell
