Kawin Mfg Co. of Astoria, NY issued a series of Skyline 3-D puzzles in the 1930's featuring Empire State, Chrysler and New York Life buildings. Promotional insert describes puzzle: "Since each piece must interlock on three or four faces with the surrounding pieces, ‘SKYLINE’ puzzles, with less pieces than ordinary flat jig-saw puzzles, are far more fascinating and require more ingenuity and a keener sense of observation to assemble." While classified an interlocking solid 3-D puzzle and not a jigsaw puzzle, pieces interlock to give feel of working a jigsaw puzzle.
