3 Layered Wheel Design

Most jigsaw puzzles are distinguishable from mechanical puzzles and other craft products because of the challenge of assembling a picture from individual pieces. But the line can easily be blurred as in this incredible craft product made by Steve Malavolta of Albuquerque, NM. Steve has selected and cut four woods (wongle, loewood, poplar and bloodwood) into jigsaw shaped pieces and fitted them into 3 layered Amerindian(?) design within a handcrafted bowl. We don't even dare take the finished product apart to count the piece for fear of being unable to put it back together properly! A most unusual "jigsaw puzzle" but a work of art and craft of the highest order.
