Set of 2 die cut cardboard puzzles :"Tom Kitten" (151 pcs, 15.5" x 11.75") with irregular edges outlining Tom's body; and "Ocean Liner" (201 pcs, 18.75" x 9.75"), boxed with Linda Hannas book, "The Jigsaw Book". The puzzles were originally published in the 1930s by Frederick Warne & Co and Chad Valley respectively and then republished in 1981 by The Dial Press in this set with the Hannas booklet. Usually, puzzles and book have been separated and sold separately. Ocean liner pictured is the Queen Mary. Artist for "Tom Kitten" is Beatrix Potter. Linda Hannas was the first great historian/collector of jigsaw puzzles with her collection featured in a major exhibition at the London Museum in 1968 and in her first book, "The English Jigsaw Puzzle, 1760 to 1890" published in 1972. There are not many books on jigsaw puzzles. Any serious collector should have her second book with 2 puzzles and original box in a complete set.
