Women and Children First

The puzzle craze of 1932-33 witnessed the distribution of several weekly and monthly series, this one being C-8 in the Picture Puzzle Weekly series manufactured by Viking Mfg. Co., Boston, MA. We do not collect cardboard puzzles but there are numerous collectors who do seek to complete one or more of the series. I particularly like the colorful action depicted in this scene by unknown artist. Initially, series puzzles sold at 25 cents each but competition soon forced the price down to 10 cents. The box for this puzzle also contained a flyer for ordering uncut pictures of the puzzle scene.
