St. Augustine

Catalog Code:
1- 1981
Description:

Classic early push fit puzzle with extensive, almost perfect color line cutting.  Unusually good condition for such an early puzzle.   Famous British Missionary, St Augustine of Kent. Unattributed illustration for a wall chart published by Macmillan, c 1948-53.  No repairs needed.

I originally listed this as being from the 1910 era, but an expert in British puzzles now tells me that this is most likely from the early 1940s/50s. They say they went through BCD Magazine and Tom Tyler's book on Jigsaw Puzzles, and according to Tom Tyler, Eric Bond cut for the British Jigsaw Puzzle Library from 1941 until his death in 1982.
