This very large Pastime puzzles was cut 1938 c. from a very appealing Hy Hintermeister print by #730. Plywood, interlocking, cut along color lines with 74 figure pieces. In the dark areas you can see some examples of the symmetric geometric figure pieces that the Pastime cutters liked to cut. They created these figure pieces by folding a piece of paper and cutting a geometric profile (like cutting snowflakes from paper in elementary school). The better cutters would have their own collection of these paper patterns. The Company also had patterns which it copyrighted and all Pastime cutters used (as well as other cutters as Parker Brothers did not try to enforce its copyrights). Henry Hintermeister (1897-1970) was a painter and illustrator who painted in the Golden Age of Illustration under the signature Hy Hintermeister. He painted as a team with his father, John Henry Hintermeister, and together they created more than 1000 works.
