Non-interlocking die cut puzzle from Tuco Workshops, Lockport, NY 1940-50's. Deluxe brand. Image was from a painting by J. F. Kernan and was used for the cover of the June, 1931, issue of Outdoor Life. (Source: another kindly web browser). No repairs needed but box colors and label have faded. Puzzle colors fine.
Tuco was a maker of die cut cardboard puzzles in Lockport, NY 1932-1984. They used stronger dies which allowed them to cut thicker cardboard (called Epsom board) but only in a crooked line strip pattern. This gave their puzzles a special feel of solidity, much like wood, and a distinct competitive advantage. Later, the company thinned the cardboard and cut knobs becoming just like the other makers of die cut cardboard puzzles. And this probably led to their demise.
