Catalog Code:
Par- 48
Description:

A particularly beautiful juxtaposition of roses in the foreground and castle turrets in back. Semi-color line cut, 26 figure pieces including "RGH" (upper left) and 2 Par sea horses, and irregular edges (outline of towers and roses). The 2 gold stenciled sea horses are in the upper left corner. Picture is from a travel poster depicting the gates of the medieval city of Visby in Gotland, Sweden  titled "Town of Ruins and Roses", and not some castle in England. Ivar Gull is the artist.  Par time: 5:45. The Hanseatic city of Visby is arguably the best-preserved medieval city in Scandinavia and since 1995, it is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Among the most notable historical remains are the 3.4 km long town wall that encircles the town center, and several church ruins.
