The Racer

While Isabel Ayer started cutting in 1907 and continued right through 1940, her early non-interlocking extensive color line cutting style changed very little over the years. Her pieces did become a little more curvilinear and she did try cutting some figure pieces into some of her puzzles. This puzzle is an example with over 30 simply cut figure pieces and a style, which suggests the beginnings of round knobs, yet is still non-interlocking with lots of color line cutting. The segment of “History Detectives” shown on PBS in July 2003 featuring our puzzle “Best of the Season” begins with Bob cutting and inserting a replacement piece for this puzzle. Can you find it?
