Special Cut puzzle by Straus sold through F.A.O. Schwartz, a large NYC department store.  16 figure pieces and better cutting and materials.  Artist is Robert William Wood (1889 – 1979), an American landscape painter. He was born in England, emigrated to the United States and rose to prominence in the 1950's with the sales of millions of his color reproductions. He was active in the art colonies of San Antonio, Texas in the 1930's, Monterey, California in the 1940's and Laguna Beach in the 1950's.  Wikipedia.  Ignore the light reflections in photo (not part of puzzle)
