Description:
Non -interlocking die cut puzzle from Tuco Workshops, Lockport, NY 1935c. (per McCann notes). Unknown artist but a well painted scene. No repairs needed.
Maker of diecut cardboard puzzles in Lockport, NY 1932-1984. They used stronger dies which allowed them to cut thicker cardboard (called upsom board) but only in a crooked line strip pattern. This gave their puzzles a special feel of solidity, much like wood, and a distinct competitive advantage. Later, the company thinned the cardboard and cut knobs becoming just like the other makers of diecut cardboard puzzles. This may have led to their demise.
