Description:
Emily Batterson worked in Hartford, CT as the companion of a wealthy woman, cutting puzzles on the side. While she did some color line cutting and cut a handful of figure pieces in her puzzles, her selection of art work was exceptional, as exemplified by this magnificent Pears print from England which appeared in their Christmas magazine in 1903. The Pears name is printed on trunk being carried from room in upper left corner. Artist is Edgar Bundy R.I. Plywood, non-interlocking, cut partially along color lines with 2 figure pieces. During the holiday season, we used to display this puzzle as you entered our 1899 house where we lived for 46 years before moving to a nearby retirement community.
