The print is of an 1864 portrait by George Frederic Watts (1817-1904) of stage actress Dame Ellen Alice Terry (1847-1928), and is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London, England. George Married Ellen that year, although they separated a year later.

George Frederic Watts was one of the most sought-after portrait painters of the Victorian age. He believed art could change lives, and his paintings grapple with various moral and existential ideas.
