Parker Brothers published at least 41 sale lists and catalogs for its Pastime series from the earliest in 1909 to the last in 1957. Puzzles are listed by name (sometimes with a brief description) within piece size category; many lists include small black & white photos for some of the puzzles listed; and prices are stated by piece size category. These lists provide an invaluable reference for identifying Pastime puzzles missing readable labels. For the puzzle shown, the only information available was from its assembly, i.e., 1000 piece size puzzle cut in an "early Pastime cutting style" (admittedly a subjective judgment but based upon study of hundreds of Pastimes and thousands of puzzles). The only title listed for Pastimes of this size in the early lists which made any sense was "The Attack on the Prince" in the 1913 catalog. This title identification has now been confirmed. Artist for this great action scene is Luigi Morgazi.
