Description:
Scene, title suggests unknown artist is depicting a rush of settlers to stake out land newly opened in the west (usually, former Indian territories). From my reading of history, men would ride out ahead to grab the best land (near water) and hold it until their families arrived in slower moving covered wagons. Very large (750 pieces) Straus puzzle cut in 1960's, Artist unknown.
